Karen M. Riffice
President
Karen Riffice is the sole owner and president of Amalgamated Services, Inc., a female owned HVACR, Plumbing, Facility Maintenance, and Government Procurement firm. Ms. Riffice has extensive experience in these industries and after honing her skills for over 30 years, she opened her own firm in 2006. Ms. Riffice’s company has performed work on many governmental and private projects, as well as successfully venturing into the federal Facility Maintenance, Operations and Maintenance, and Government Procurement arenas.
O’Hare International Airport, the General Service Administration, Chicago Public Schools, the Housing Authority of the County of Cook, the Chicago Transit Authority, the Department of Veteran Affairs, the Federal Aviation Agency, DoD, NAVFAC, NASA, DOT, DOL, FEMA, DoEd, and USACE are but a few of the locations and agencies with which Ms. Riffice has been awarded contracts. Karen has earned various certifications which include (though are not limited to) 8(a), ISO 9001:2015, WBE, SBE, DBE, EDWOSB, WBENC, and GSA Schedule Holder 03 FAC.
It is Ms. Riffice’s belief that the projects in which her firm participates are successful only through proper planning, regular communication with the client, diligent work, and intensive follow‐through. She believes as well that it is critical to partner with clients and work as a team to provide an acceptable final project.
Karen received her BS and MBA degrees from Governors State University in suburban Chicago. In addition, she participated in the Mechanical Contractors Association of America’s Advance Leadership Institute, as well as attending countless workshops including a Bonding Education Program through the USDOT, Minority Contractor Training Program, SBA Contractor Teaming Program, Goldman-Sachs 10,000 Business Program, the SBA E200 and Emerging Leaders Program, as well as numerous others of comparable merit.
Ms. Riffice is active in a number of many professional organizations and served on the boards of the Mechanical Contractors Association of Chicago (MCA), the National Association of Women in Construction, and the Chicagoland Better Heating and Cooling Association. Additionally, Karen is a member of the Women in HVACR, the American Subcontractors Association of Chicago, the Plumbing Contractors Association of Chicago (PCA), the Hispanic American Construction Industry Association (HACIA), Women Impacting Political Policy (WIPP), and the Society of American Military Engineers (SAME), as well as five other professional organizations of note.
A mother of a grown daughter, Angela, Karen divides her time between Chicago and Orlando with her husband of many years, John.
